Launch of Cambodia's TYPO3 Community
Thursday, 16th November 2010 is a day to remember for the Open Source Community in Cambodia, especially for its web developers.
The official launch of the Khmer TYPO3 Community took place at Web Essentials' office and was celebrated with a range of special guests: Clients, ICT representatives and Open Source supporters as well as media representatives were present.
A special opening speech from the vice-president of the ICT Business Association, Dr. Eric Mousset introduced us to the culture and values of open source communities. Then Dominik Stankowski analyzed the advantages of open source and how using open source can positively influence a business.
A comprehensive presentation on TYPO3 as the world's most used Web Content Management System (CMS) by Violeng Mam and Visay Keo followed. They shared about the adventure of translating TYPO3 in Khmer which was succesfully done at the beginning of December 2010. They also demonstrated how easily the content of a website can be changed while using TYPO3.
At the same time, Web Essentials celebrated the promotion of 5 staff becoming Project Managers (Visay Keo, Violeng Mam), Project Coordinators (Chivy Lim, Dimanche Eat), and Web Developer coordinating projects (Phalla Lay).
