Web Essentials Expands our Technical Team
We are delighted to welcome no less than 9 new team members to the Web Essentials team, boosting the number of digital change-makers in the Phnom Penh office to 33.
As well as new skills, the new staff bring new perspectives and ideas to our scrum teams. Here’s a bit more about them.
Meet the Project Managers

Lee is a certified Scrum product owner from the US who has managed the design and delivery of various digital products in the financial, healthcare and retail sector. His time as a product manager at Nike.com means he knows first-hand the challenges of lightweight software development in a large corporate context. He’s got a razor-sharp mind for business and data analysis and is ready for new data-driven digitalization challenges.

Chanras is knowledgeable about a mindblowing range of topics, he’ll surprise you with a fact for whatever subject you throw at him.
Senior Web Developer
Phearoth may be a familiar face to some of our older clients, as he was with us back in 2015 before winning a scholarship at a university in Korea for his MA in Computer and Communications Engineering. His practical studies on e-learning in Cambodian universities aligns well with Web Essentials mission to train young Cambodians using new approaches. Phearoth actively seeks out tough projects to stretch his programming skills and learn new technologies.
Quality Assurance Developer
Sakal bolsters our tight-knit DevOps team as a Quality Assurance developer. His previous work experience includes network system administration and maintenance for the banking sector and programming of app scanning tech for an international retail technology solutions provider. Sakal is responsible for continuous testing of each project increment to uphold and secure each product’s high quality metrics.
Brandon is back in Cambodia after a few years study program in Japan, where along with completing his degree in Computer Science and interning at Sony Corporation, he focused on developing his skills in IOS application development. He has strong communication skills, and is fluent not only in English and Khmer, but also Japanese and Mandarin.
Heng is a junior web developer and a graduate of PNC, a long-time partner NGO of Web Essentials in Phnom Penh. His most recent position was at a financial institution where he contributed to the entire software development cycle for an accounting system, from concepting, to development to support.
Sothea is a graduate from the Web Essentials internship program last year, so already knows a lot about our recent projects and clients. Now freshly graduated from the Institute of Technology we are excited to welcome him back for his first graduate job, and the opportunity to work on new projects with the same positive energy as before.
Leonard has joined our Phnom Penh team from Germany after finishing his BA in Media Informatics. During his studies he put app dev theory into practice with our friends over at Sandstorm Media, the Dresden-based agency we co-developed a mailing tool for Swisscom with. He’s looking forward to building on this experience and getting involved in our fair trade software movement, as well as learning as much as he can about Cambodian culture.
Welcome to all new starters! We are looking forward to introducing you in person.
A word of welcome from our MD, Mary Lüthy-Hui
