After months in the making, on Friday May 12th Web Essentials hosted MEET NEOS at our Basel based office, Kleinhafen. Throughout the day 7 expert speakers with 8 insight-loaded presentations discussed Next Generation Content Management with the Neos-curious event attendees.

For the unfamiliar, MEET NEOS is a series of mini conferences designed to bring Neos CMS directly to everyone from agencies to clients, decision makers, marketers and hard-core-developers. Attendees have the opportunity to meet the people behind the Neos project, and speak to developers and end users who can share their first hand experiences of using it everyday.

Among our speakers were Neos CMS co-founder Robert Lemke, Neos Team Members Tobias Gruber and Dominique Feyer, web company founders Stefan Bruggmann and Dominik Stankowski and Nicole Wyler from Swisscom, who brought the end user perspective to the day's talks and showcases.

This event would not have been possible without the support of the speakers, but also our Gold Sponsors SandstormSchwabe and Visol. Thank you for your participation and furthering the continued progress of Neos CMS.

The event was also our first foray into the world of live streaming as the informative discussions were live streamed via the MEET NEOS Facebook channel. Expect more of this from Web Essentials as we had a lot of fun! Thanks to webexcess founder and speaker Stefan Bruggmann and Digital Strategy Consultant Yann Graf for their efforts to set up the stream. Missed it? You can find the videos and images below.

Live Stream #1

Robert Lemke - Neos: A Content Management Platform (English)

Neos is a modern Content Management Platform which allows for a wide range of applications, starting from one pagers up to multi domain, multi language, personalised websites, deeply integrated with third party content sources, such as E-commerce systems. In this talk Robert sheds some light on the advantages of choosing Neos from a business and a technical perspective.

[49:20] Stefan Bruggmann - Eldora Case study (German)

Two large Swiss hospitality companies managing 8 different types of catering services across 11 locations got a complete website redesign, including an integrated process for the management of their Menus. Stefan talks you through the case study and shows how this was made possible using Neos.

[1:00:42] Dominik Stankowski & Danilo Wanner - Antikenmuseumbasel.ch Case Study (English)

This website was a joint project between Web Essentials and YAAY. A new design with streamlined navigation and pared down content set a new standard for local museum websites. Neos was valuable to this project thanks to its convenient inline editing. The design includes dashboards with expandable elements which can be filled with content and previewed inline before publishing. Dominik from Web Essentials and Danilo from YAAY talk you through the approach and outcome.

Live Stream #2

Dominique Feyer - Content Modelling. From Theory to Neos (English)

Content Modelling is a part of the content strategy and is a vital part of modern content driven projects. Defining content names and structure in collaboration with the client is key to the success and the maintainability of the new website or application. Despite this, many CMS enforce constraints that obstruct your efforts. During this talk Dominique introduces the concept of content modelling and how Neos CMS supports this.

[35:20] Stefan Bruggmann - EIZO Case Study (German)

User requirements were at the centre of this joint project between Dotpulse and Web-Excess. This website with a fully integrated web shop was developed using Neos CMS and was officially recognised as an oustanding Neos project when it won the Neos Bronze award in 2016. Stefan talks you through the details.

[49:57] Lorenz Ulrich & Jonas Renggli - allgemeine baugenossenschaft luzern Case Study (German)

The allgemeine baugenossenschaft luzern - the 5th largest building coorperative in Switzerland with over 2000 apartments - replaced its admin software and started a complete digital relaunch in the process. As well as a redesign of the website and interface for housing applications, the process of distributing accommodation needed to be digitized and replaced by a web application. Visol implemented the website using Neos CMS, developed the back office admin tool using flow framework and connected the two together. Lorenz and Jonas talks you through the process.
